“storage house”

Historically, this house was used to store crops and argiculture tools. This apartment was used in particular to store potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions and corn. Sweet potato is still one of the most cultivated crops that Madeira produces today. In Madeira, it was not uncommon to keep the harvest at the top of the house. This is precisely the function of the top floor of the Santana Houses !
